Cutlass - License Plate and Shirt - 2016(?)
This was a Christmas present for my father who owns a classic white Oldsmobile Cutlass with original chrome and badges and he is very proud of it. The exact model and year escapes me but I'm pretty sure it is a '72 Cutlass Coupe. I wanted to get a license plate for the front of his car so I figured why not make one?
I took a photo of a Cutlass badge and redrew it in Illustrator. I also redrew the Oldsmobile logo because at the time I could only find other variations that were not accurate for the timeframe of the vehicle. I cut the vinyl out in a chrome Permanent Adhesive Vinyl and used a premask tape to apply it to the license plate.
I also wanted to make a matching shirt that he could wear to the car shows to go with his car. The same design, but shrank down to about 3.5 inches for the Front Left Chest area of the t-shirt. I believe we used a somewhat reflective or silver Heat Transfer Vinyl so it would have an almost chrome look. It would stand out well on a black shirt.
Very simple, one color design but some of my early vinyl work and it meant a lot to me because I made this for my father.
